The Chelsea Hotel
There’s so many tales to tell
From inside the Chelsea Hotel
So many tales to tell
From inside the Chelsea Hotel

Leonard knew Janice very well
In Room 424 of the Chelsea Hotel
Bob wrote Blonde On Blonde in Room two one one
Sara stayed down the hall, and they’d soon be joined as one

Andy and his Chelsea Girls were there in four four two
The hotel was like a Bohemian circus or zoo
Eddie set fire to her room one zero five
Andy’s ‘Tormented – It Girl’ was lucky to survive
And Eddie’s love for Bob was in vain
The lonely little girl broke and didn’t remain

And the ghost of Mary walks the 5th floor
Floating through dreaming walls and doors
Her husband drowned on Titanic’s deck
She waited in vain and then hung herself by the neck

The haunt of the stars and children of the wealthy
Abandoned by their parents at the Hotel Chelsea
Dylan Thomas died there in his room
After too many whiskey’s had been consumed

There’s so many tales to tell
From inside the Chelsea Hotel

Freddie thought Sid was rather atrocious
He called him Sid Ferocious
Then Sid went and viciously stabbed Nancy dead
In the bathroom of Room one hundred

But Sid just couldn’t be saved
And they scattered Sid’s ashes on Nancy’s grave
That made the Rabbi’s of the day rave
They said ‘Sid wasn’t of The Faith’ and that he was ‘depraved’

The first floor was for Junkies, Toms and pimps
Reserved for their all night high jinks
In the cheap small rooms many died
Either by overdose or suicide

There’s so many tales to tell
From inside the Chelsea Hotel

Stanley shouts ‘Pay me your rent, how long are you gonna keep me waiting’?
Okay if you’re an artist then you can pay me with a painting
It was Bohemia frozen in time
But it was coming to the end of the line

And then the curtain fell
On the Chelsea Hotel
Now the walls are bare and the paintings have all gone
The last of the Bohemians are either dead or have moved on
Just one or two of the old residents remain
But they know that things will never be the same
No, they can never be the same

There’s so many tales to tell
From inside the Chelsea Hotel
There’s so many tales to tell
From inside the Chelsea Hotel
The Chelsea Hotel
The Chelsea Hotel

And then the curtain fell
On the Chelsea Hotel
Now the walls are bare and the paintings have all gone
The last of the Bohemians are either dead or have moved on
Just one or two of the old residents remain
But they know that things will never be the same
No, they can never be the same

There’s so many tales to tell
From inside the Chelsea Hotel
So many tales to tell
From inside the Chelsea Hotel

The Chelsea Hotel
The Chelsea Hotel

And then the curtain fell
On the Chelsea Hotel
Now the walls are bare and the paintings have all gone
The last of the Bohemians are either dead or have moved on
Just one or two of the old residents remain
But they know that things will never be the same
No, they can never be the same, never be the same

The Chelsea Hotel
No, never be the same
The Chelsea Hotel
No, things will never be the same
The Chelsea Hotel
At the Chelsea Hotel
At the Chelsea Hotel

There’s so many tales to tell
From inside the Chelsea Hotel
There’s so many tales to tell
From inside the Chelsea Hotel

The Chelsea Hotel
The Chelsea Hotel
The Chelsea Hotel
